Parents

Ivy Leaf communicates with parents through a yearly calendar of events and weekly newsletters. In September, all parents are invited to attend the Parent Reception hosted by the Parent Council. The parent Council is a group of parents who work in conjunction with the school to help raise funds, provide support to the school, and implement special family events.

In October, parents are invited to an open house to meet their child’s teacher, receive the curriculum for the year, and hear a brief overview of what their child will experience that year. In February, parents are invited to have a private consultation with their child’s teacher regarding their child’s progress.

Throughout the year, parents receive newsletters informing them of upcoming events. They are invited on class trips, to the annual Christmas Program (pre-school & lower school), special assemblies (middle school), and Black History Program (school-wide). Parents are able to schedule appointments as needed to speak with their child’s teacher and an administrator.

Parent support is evident in their involvement in the annual fund raiser and the large numbers of parents present at the school events as outlined above. Each year, parents show their appreciation to the staff on the annual Staff Appreciation Day in March.
